West Coast Road Trip
On August 2016, we embarked on a trip to the west coast and back. We had planned this trip for several months and the trip was very successful and fun. We saw so many things for the first time. Many natural wonders, landscapes, wildlife, experiences, and activities were observed during this trip. The only thing that I would’ve changed about the plan, if I could’ve changed it is the length. I would have planned more time off for the drive because I would prefer longer rests. Driving in a car for long periods of time can be uncomfortable.
Started in Jacksonville, Florida and drove through Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Indiana. Chicago, Illinois is our home town where we visited family and enjoyed the lake front. The lakefront (Lake Shore Drive, Lake Michigan) is a place that we go for the views and bike path.
We drove through Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa before stopping in South Dakota. Mount Rushmore and The Crazy Horse monument is a spot we planned to visit which was our first time. It was a nice experience and cool little town. Badlands National Park is also in South Dakota. It was a desert mountainous landscape used for a lot of western films.
We then drove through Wyoming and into Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone was very large preserve. There was a lot to see and do. Other than seeing the Old Faithful Geyser, the overwhelming natural landscape, and the millions of wildlife there are hundreds of activities one can do. After Yellowstone, we drove through Montana, Idaho, and stopped in Washington to visit a friend.
After Washington we drove through Oregon and into California. We drove through Big Sur along the coast and visited family in Los Angeles. We then drove to Arizona where we visited family in Phoenix and visited the Grand Canyon. This is where the video ended but we also drove through New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana (we stopped in New Orleans for food), Mississippi, and Alabama before arriving back in Florida.
